Happy July and I hope you all are enjoying the summer.

PMIGL has exciting news related to the Office of the Presidency (OOP) election held in June. The Executive Committee elected Synthia Adams for this 3-year term starting in 2024 where she will serve as President Elect, President, and Past President. We are fortunate to have such a talented, dedicated, and well-deserving volunteer support our chapter in this prestigious role. Our BOD is excited to collaborate with Synthia in her new role and we applaud her!

VP Nominations for the 2024-2025 term are now open and close on 7/28. Please consider offering your time and talent and apply for one of these volunteer roles: Communications, Membership, Administration, and Finance. The VP Elections will then open to the PMIGL members for voting on 8/5 and close on 8/26. VP Election results will then be published on 9/1.

Cost is only $15 for members and non-members. Paid PMIGL members who attend will be reimbursed the $15 fee after the event. Non-members will not be reimbursed, but will be invited to a happy hour event at no cost.

The Twelve Learnable Competencies of Emotional Intelligence

 My “PM Musings” article published in the April 2023 issue of the PMIGLC Baseline newsletter outlined the basic elements of Emotional Intelligence [EQ], discussed the four dimensions of EQ -- self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, and relationship management, and, touched on the competencies of EQ. This article will suggest ways to learn and practice these EQ competencies to become an emotionally intelligent leader. Read on.
